Turning duties into accomplishments
The same job, written twice: once as a job description, once as evidence.
The pattern
Action verb, what you did, what changed. If you can attach a number to the change, do. If you cannot, name the outcome anyway.
Before and after
Before: "Responsible for managing the onboarding process." After: "Rebuilt onboarding, cutting time-to-productivity for new starters from six weeks to three."
Before: "Handled customer complaints." After: "Resolved 40+ escalated complaints a month, with 92% closed without a refund."
Before: "Worked on the migration." After: "Migrated 1.2m records to the new platform over four months with no unplanned downtime."
When you have no numbers
Plenty of good work is not measured. Say what existed before and what existed after: a report nobody had, a process that stopped needing a manager's sign-off, a rota that finally worked.
