Terms of use

These terms are the agreement between you and Obsidian Ventures Limited, a company incorporated in New Zealand, the operator of CVuild at cvuild.com. By using the service you accept them. If you do not, do not use it.

You must be at least 16 years old. If you are using CVuild on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are able to accept these terms for it.

Most of CVuild works without an account. If you create one, keep your password to yourself — you are responsible for what happens under your account, and you should tell us promptly at contact@obsdn.nz if you believe someone else has access.

You may close your account at any time.

Building CVs and cover letters, choosing a template, and downloading finished PDFs are free, without limit and without an account.

A pass unlocks unlimited job posting scans and the custom template settings. Before buying one, every account gets a small number of free scans so you can see what you are paying for.

Passes are one-off payments covering a fixed period — currently one month or three months — not subscriptions. Nothing renews automatically and there is nothing to cancel. When a pass expires, the account returns to the free tier and every document in it stays exactly where it was.

We charge in US dollars, and in New Zealand dollars for customers in New Zealand. The price and its currency are both shown before you pay, and they are the price and currency you are charged. If your card is issued in another currency, your bank may convert it and may add a fee of its own; that conversion is between you and your bank.

Payment is taken by Stripe; we never receive your card details.

You may ask for a full refund within 14 days of buying a pass, for any reason, by writing to contact@obsdn.nz. We will refund to the original payment method.

Refunds are made in the currency you paid in, for the amount you paid. We do not carry exchange-rate movement between the two dates.

Nothing here limits rights you have under the law where you live, including the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986 in New Zealand, and the statutory right to cancel a distance contract if you are a consumer in the UK.

The CVs, cover letters and everything you write in them belong to you. We claim no ownership of them.

You give us only the permission needed to run the service for you: to store your documents, render them, and produce the files you ask for. That permission ends when you delete the content or close your account. We do not publish your documents, show them to anyone else, or use them to train any model.

• Upload content you have no right to use, or that is unlawful.
• Attempt to reach documents, exports or accounts that are not yours, or to work around the limits on the free tier.
• Automate the service at a volume that degrades it for other people, or resell access to it.

The templates, the software and the written guides are ours. You may use the templates freely for your own CVs and cover letters, including for paid work you are applying to. You may not redistribute them as templates or sell them.

The scanner reports how closely a CV matches a posting. It is an aid to editing, not a prediction: it does not read the employer’s actual system, does not guarantee an interview, and cannot tell whether what you have written is true.

Do not add a skill, qualification or date you do not have. What your CV says is your responsibility.

We aim to keep CVuild running but do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we may change or withdraw features. Keep your own copy of anything that matters to you — for documents built without an account, that means downloading the PDF, because a cleared browser takes the draft with it.

To the extent the law allows, Obsidian Ventures Limited is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost opportunities or job offers, or for content lost from a browser we never held it in. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, your statutory guarantees apply regardless of this section. If you use CVuild for business purposes, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 does not apply.

You may stop using CVuild and close your account whenever you like. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms; where it is reasonable to do so we will tell you first and give you a chance to export your documents. If we close your account without cause, we refund the unused part of any pass.

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and its courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in.

If something goes wrong, write to contact@obsdn.nz first — nearly everything is settled that way.

We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed, and we will tell account holders by email before a material change takes effect. A pass you have already bought keeps the terms it was bought under.
